I have a '94 ford explorer, 4.0 V-6. It has quite a few miles on it, but I want to get as much use out of it as I can. Anyway one of the cylinders may be a little weak, because after a few thousand miles it will start to misfire on one cylinder. And it's always the same one. When I pull the plug on that cylinder it looks like someone dipped in tar then dropped it in the dirt. Changing the plug solves the problem %100, but only temporarily. The truck uses oil, but it does not smoke ever. I'm assuming the plug is oil fouled. Will switching to a hotter plug help keep the deposits burned off? Is their some kind of plug cross reference chart I could find on the net or something to look up the number for a hotter plug? The guys at the auto parts store had no clue. Or is that not a good idea altogether? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanx Jim

I put in a new AC belt on my wife's 96 Voyager yesterday - the old one broke. Anyway, when I tightened it up I would say I jacked up the pulley with the jack screw maybe 30% of what I had loosened it (just based on how long it took me to get it loose enough to get the new belt on versus how quickly it seemed to tighten up). It's almost seems like the new belt must actually be a little shorter than the old one. It's hard to measure that 5/16th play and it's a pretty tight area to work in even with my stubby ratchet. The AC works fine now - can I just check it every few weeks and tighten it if the new belt stretches with use? TIA
