idle up & down
i have a 93 gmc 1500 pu. my problem is when i start it up, the engine will idle up and down at times. when i drive it , it doesnt have the pick-up it should. sometimes it will cut off after i take my foot off the petal.i put a new fuel filter on it a few weeks ago. it will start with no problem. when i pull on the throttle under the hood it sounds very good with no troubles. thanks.............

Look for an air leak around the throttle body/MAF sensor. It can cause what you're describing. Also check the connections at and clean the MAF sensor. You can get cleaner for that at an auto parts store.
For the air leak, check the mounting bolts and while it's running spray a little WD40 around the mating points of both. If you have a change in engine RPMs, you have found the leak.
