column to floor shift
Is there a specific name for a kit to convert a shifter for an automatic transmission from the steering column to the floor?

I remember seeing these shifter conversion kits in J.C. Whitney catalogs years ago. I think many were made by Hurst, which was/is a major aftermarket shifter supplier.

I just checked on the Hurst Shifters website, and they still sell conversion kits for floor mounted shifters for automatic transmissions, as well as manual trannies.
Since this site is kind of funny about posting links to the web, just type in Hurst Shifters into your search engine, and that should work.

Basically, so you know what I'm doing, I have a truck that has a manual tranny in it now and I'm just wanting to put an automatic in it and just have a floor shifter. Would I still need the conversion kit?

Manufacture websites are ok. Another you may look at is B&M. Normally when you buy a shifter it will come with the cables and brackets you need. Changing an auto on the tree to the floor is very common.

I personally would go to Jegs website or Summit Racing and you should be able to choose one that is vehicle specific. If it's not on one of their sites just call them and they will fix you up. I've done it a dozen times on my muscle cars.
