2001 dodge trouble code decoder needed! [Threads merged]
i have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 magnum V8 4x4-with some issues. let's cut to the chase-if i push/reset my trip odometer while turning my ignition key to the on position, i get trouble codes displayed. only trouble now, is what on earth do they mean?!? there are three codes displayed in my odometer box: 920, 921, 999. PLEASE? will somebody decode this for a damsel in distress??? thanx, guys!!!

i just came across a hell of a deal, or so i thought! I just bought a 2001 dodge ram 1500 4x4 truck, registered, tow package, i mean, it;s loaded, for $5000. i was stoked, until, of course, it became tempermental. i first made an ass out of myself when visiting my uncle, whom had much "undesirable" company in his front yard, my truck would not start, and my gas guage read empty. "okay-who syphoned my gas!". it wasn't until i gave it enough thought as to how on earth anyone could milk my truck dry of twenty gallons, that i realized this might be an electrical problem! anyhow, replaced the fuel pump, not the problem. check my grounds, i am very capable of chasing down bad relays, diodes, sensors, whatever-but i am hoping that somebody can, and will, just give me somewhere to start. i'm about to replace my alternator, before i tear into my instrument cluster. i just don't know. i do however know that this is not a unique problem, so will someone whom has already won this battle give me some advice? i am not just a helpless chick, but i have been fixing my own s@#t long enough to feel comfortable with guys telling me how to fix it!

Does the truck turn over but not just run? Can you hear the fuel pump kick on for a couple seconds before you actually start the vehicle?
None of the codes you mentioned are on the following list, so not sure what they mean right now.

ugh-someone, just kill me now?!?!?!
first thing i figured was the fuel pump, so that is brand new,also, was unessesary. i took my alternator out, and it is fine. now i am wondering if it might be the coil. one wonders who thought of placing it so close to the exhaust, but i brushed my arm against the other day and WOW! that sucker isn't supposed to be that hot!
my fear is that it is the CPU or whatever anagram is correct for the computer. only because i could hear wierd "gurgling" sounds coming from behind the glove box when my boyfriend was driving it, and only when it was acting up.
and to answer the question of whether or not it turns over or not-well it's tempermental, i tell you. sometimes it won't turn at all, because the guages don't work, the dash reads "no Bus", but for whatever reason, it doesn't seem to do that as much as seems to loose it's "thought process", ( for lack of a better way to relay the idea). when driving down a smooth road, suddenly the speedometer needle goes right down to zero, but my RPM are still up, then the gas guage gets stupid, and it dies. another factor that i have to discount is temurature- because it seems quite indiscriminate not only as to when it kills itself, but when it fixes itself is unpredictable, too!
