Unhappy 2001 Ford Taurus rear drum brakes

My Wifes' Taurus started making noise this morning as She went to work. She came back and took My van, while I took the rear tire off on passenger side. I got a ton of brake dust trying to get the drum off.

The drum is on pretty tight, and yes I have removed the locknuts, I believe the brakes have worn a groove in the drums. I can get it to move about 1/4", then stops. What will I have to do, loosen the shoes up to allow them to come off?

Thanks for any advise or help. Bill

I got it off with a hammer and 2 screwdrivers, it was in bad shape. Bill
