'03 4runner rear hatch

Hi all, My '03 4runner has developed a problem. The rear hatch closes electrically. When you try to close the hatch it is drawn in tight (like it should be) and then released (NG) by whatever mechanism closed it. I have it tied shut for now, but this has created other problems. Door ajar light is on, remote locking feature doesn't work, remote starting doesn't work, and I have to untie the hatch to open it. The interesting twist is this. The other day I was driving with the radio on. All of a sudden the radio goes dead, the hatch closes (you can hear the motor) and door ajar light goes out. Next time I drove the vehicle radio worked, hatch didn't. Any ideas?

 

Definetly sounds like a electrical problem, either from the alarm system or a harness going into the PCM. I wouldn't even know where to begin with this, maybe someone else does...
