90s Jimmy

I have a 90s Jimmy and no owners manual. The brake lights are not working. The tail lights are fine. Even the brake light at the top of the back window does not come on.

Sounds like the brake switch. It is located right under your brake pedal.

if you just follow the brake pedal up under the dash you should see the brake light switch and you may want to test it before actually replacing it you can check it with a test light or even just disconect it and jumper it to see if the brake lights come on if they come on supect bad switch if they do not come on with it jumpered would start checking fuses.

Pull one of the bulbs out. I think these cars use one bulb for tail lights and brake. One of the filiments in the bulb maybe burnt out. Check them all.

i would check the output wirefrom the brakeswitch should be white wire if i remember right

with pedal pushed should have 12 volts

if you have it there then check where it goes up to the multifunction switch

only strange part is usually u will have the high mount light work and the lower 2 stop working

We noticed when you press the hazard light switch, as the button was pressed, the top brake light came on for just an instant. Does that mean anything?

I had the same problem, the solution fro me was on the steering column the is a plug that had worked it way a lose.
This caused the brake lights not to work. Hope this helps, if not PM me and I will look it up, as I now have the service manual for the 92 and 94 jimmy.
