94 Ford Tempo horn

The horn won't sound and the cruise doesn't work on my 94 Ford Tempo 2.3L w auto trans UNLESS the cabin temperature is hot. If I run AC for awhile, both stop working. The fuses are OK. I already pulled the steering wheel, cleaned contacts and checked continuity of switches on steering wheel. Didn't help. Is there a separate ground somewhere?

You cleaned the horn & cruise brushes, but have a close look @ the tension of the springs under them. We used to find alot of them with the little springs colapsed under the brushes. Another place to look is the wires would break inside the insulation from tilting the steering wheel causing intermittant operation. Good Luck, Roger

Hmmm. Yeah I stopped without pulling the spring contacts. The springs were intact though as they snap back up when pushed. I'll have to go the next step and pull, clean and check continuity from that point into the wiring.
Thanks, John
