If this is in wrong forum, please move to appropriate one.
Can an in-dash cd player mounted vertically (obviously not in the dash)? Thanks.

Thanks. I will buy an inexpensive unit as a trial. I called JVC America. They said their units were not designed for vertical mounting. If I were the CEO, I would say the same.

I have done it a long time ago when I used to experiment with some of my beater cars. I had the stereo mounted verticle inbetween the seats. The only issue I noticed was sometimes the skip protection didn't work very well with the CD Player, but it was very minimal.

By the way, do you know if there is a portable CD player that remembers last played track? If they make one, I don't have to proceed with indash cd player.

To be honest with you, I haven't seen or looked at a portable CD player in about 5+ years so I can't really help you there.
I use a MP3 player now and is alot better. You can hook MP3 players up to the back of the stereo in most cases.
