2002 Ford Focus - Front Wheel Bearings

Two questions:
Does the Ford Focus have front wheel bearings?
If so, is it a DIY project?

Thanks.

All vehicles with wheels have bearings.

Your car does not have serviceable bearings and the whole hub assembly needs to be replaced.

They are $95/ea from Autozone

You could probably do this yourself with some tools.

What problems are you having that makes you think your bearings are bad?

I had my car aligned at a Brake Check and the guy there told me they were going out. In addition there is a grinding/whirring sound that is getting louder.

If you are a little handy you should be able to do it. I just did my sebring, had to buy a female torx socket set and make a slide hammer and use a torch on one bolt. It was still a lot cheaper than having a dealer do it. Take it apart, you can still put it back together and take it somewhere if you have to. Good luck

Before you go to far make sure and check the Inner bearing on passenger side axle, they go out all the time and will sound like a front wheel bearing, also go around 3o mph on a straight road and turn your steering wheel side to side that will confirm if it is a wheel bearing and which side. good luck

Thanks for all the input. I think my pastor and I are going to try to tackle this project this weekend. It can't hurt to have God on your side.
