Interior lights stay on in 68 Caddy Sedan de Ville!

I had this problem a few years back but I can't remember how it got fixed!

One day I drove home, and closed the door. Without any reason, the interior lights stay on. Since that time, I've been disconnecting the battery to save electricity.

But why do the interior lights stay on?

Is one of the four switches on the inside of the door broken? Perhaps the plunger doesn't disconnect power to the interior lights anymore... is this something simple to test or fix?

or

Is it a fuse box issue?

Or something else I've not considered?

68 Caddy Interior Lights

First thing to check is that the interior light dimmer swith is not turned fully on. Next unplug the door jam switch one at a time and see if the light goes out. Be sure not to ground the end of the wire, the light will stay on if grounded.

Thanks for the advice.

I cannot envisage how to reach the door jamb switch at this time. Looked like its torqued into the jamb with a specialty tool, but I could be mistaken.
