Not enough info, car make, year will tell us what type of paint, condition. Is it just faded/dull, scratched, etc. Some 90's manufacturers had problems with clear coats and they will never shine. But the clay system is better than compound but is a lot of work. Not sure of the name, but usually available at most auto stores. Polishes(much finer than rubbing compound) work better than compound if the finish is not too rough. Wax is the last step.
