idling rough
I have a 1990 plymouth spirit that is idling rough and there is a strong gas smell.

You may want to look for an external fuel leak. If none are found I would suspect a fuel injector. See if you can determine the location of the fuel smell and Im betting you will find the reason it idles rough as well.
What engine are you working on?
