Angry 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee ignition switch

I think my key switch has gone bad. It feels loose and the Jeep will not start. How do I remove that barrel to replace the switch? If thats what it needs

Angry problems with jeep ignition

I had same problem with sons jeep and it was a case of the pins collapsing in the sleeve. After a fairly hefty bill from a lock smith tryinf to reset the pins it was way easier to replace the entire barrel and iginition. Also the ring around the key hole will fracture when trying to remove so will need to be replaced. Our new ignition came with the necessary rings etc. If you don't replace the outer ring it looks like you defeated the ignition which could cause you a lot of problems it you get pulled over by the local constabulary. All in all it cost about $200

might check out autozones website for more info would suspect it just requires a pin to be depressed to remove the cylinder after removing steering column covers.
when you get the cylinder out take a look at it and see if its broken usually pretty obvious, as your problem could be in the ignition switch.
