rear brakes 80 Ford Fairmont

Are they self adjusting? How do you free them up ,clean or lubricate them? Will they adjust by driving backwards and appling the breaks? Can you adjust them without removing the tire? Are they difficult to replace?thanks once again for help!!!

Self-adjusting rears have been standard for about 50 years or so. Yes, backing up repeatedly and applying the brakes will adjust them. You can also adjust them manually through holes in the backing plate, but it can be tricky to do and you would need to have the wheel offf the ground so you could spin it and ensure you don't over-adjust. Replacement is a little involved if you've never done brake shoes before and can be a bit dangerous due to the springs involved.
