90 Subaru Legacy just quit on me...HELP!!!
The car just died without any prior warning or indications that it would do so. I was just minding my own business and ...no noise,bang,whirrrr,squeal...nothing. Now it appears it has no fire. It's a 2.2 Fuel inj....I really love this little car and can't afford to go to a dealer to have a diagnostic run on it. We did the only diagnostic the Chilton book offered for when the car isn't actually running and it came back with codes 24 and 31, neither of which is the problem. Does anybody know of ANYTHING we could check?????

Timing belt. Remove the oil filler cap from the valve cover and look inside while someone cranks it over. You should see things rotating and/or moving up and down; if nothing moves - timing belt.
24 - Air control valve or circuit
31 - Throttle position sensor or circuit
Just curious, but how did you eliminate those as not being the problem?
