If all the proper parts are installed correctly, there should be no air bag light on. Nothing in the system of this car requires reprogramming or setting up. On newer vehicles, when you replace the SDM, you have to set up the SDM in the BCM. Did you install new parts that match the VIN number of the vehicle? If so, go through and verifiy all your connections, unplug them and plug them back in with the system disabled, fuse pulled. Put the fuse back in and start the vehicle to see what the light does. If it comes back on, you're gonna need to get the SDM scanned with a scan tool to pull the codes. With that done, you can isolate the problem. With the DTC #, we can help you out.

Just how many parts must I replace and where are they located? Are auto dealers the only ones who can scan for air bag codes?

What was the reason for all these parts being replaced? Was the car in an accident? Did you replace the SIR coil?
I don't know of any independent shops around here that can scan body controls. I wouldn't trust them if they could unless they had GM Service Information. If I were you, I would just run it in to the dealer, tell them you just want an SIR code pulled minus the diagnosis. They may not even charge you. If they do, probably 30-40 bucks.

In a typical front end collision with air bag deployment, these are the items that get replaced on your vehicle: air bags of course, the SDM (air bag module), and the front air bag sensor. The reason for SIR coil replacment is due to the connectors melting from the intense heat from the explosion. If your's are not burnt, I'd say its probably fine. But, to save you the money for more parts that may not be needed, have the SDM scanned for DTCs first. Maybe the SDM has to be set up with a scan tool to match the VIN of the vehicle. They shouldn't charge you much just to tell you what the DTC's are. If it is a configuration DTC, the scan tool will be needed anyway to set the SDM up.
