I am looking at a 92 Explorer, for sale. The gentleman said that he thinks the linkage is unhooked and the truck wont go into drive. Is this an easy fix? He is asking $600. I need a vehicle that I can drive immediately, but I really like this one. Any info would be a big help. Thanks

Will it go into any of the other gears, i.e. reverse?
Disconnected linkage is fairly easy to fix if that's what is wrong with it. If the transmission is burned out you may be able to move the valves into place with the existing linkage, but obviously the truck isn't going anywhere. That would be about 2500 dollars to hire a fix on.
Hope this helps,
Bob
