Replacing a tire
Hi- Earlier this weekend I posted to ask if a tire with two punctures on the "shoulder" of the tire could be repaired- the answer was "no".
Is there some kind of conventional wisdom or guideline or whatever that says "if you replace 1 tire, you need to replace the tire on the other side too"? The tires are fairly new, have a lot of tread left.
I just want to know the facts before someone at a tire place tries to upsell me.
Thanks,
Dave O

You're clearly aware that the ideal replacement tire will be the same model with the same tread depth as what is already on your car. For fairly new tires, I'd just buy a new one. If the rest of the tires are getting near replacing, I've put on a used one instead.

Still haven't been to Sears
We got the tires at Sears, a brand called Falken, and I haven't been able to get there yet. The model we bought has been discontinued and a newer model replaced it, so I want to go see it and make sure the tread is similar and a pretty close match to avoid pulling to one side.
Thanks for the info!
