94 geo prizm clutch/trans problems

I have a 94 geo prizm LHD, manual trans.

Here is the story

My 18 son was driving, hit a curb blew out the tire on the passenger side. Continued driving until he could go no more(dont ask).

This is hard on a differential I know, there is a BAD burnt smell but it does not smell like clutch.

Is there a write up on removing the trans? pictures etc...

or is the trans/axle toast?

Thank you for your time and help in advance.

Mike

I'm pretty sure the clutch would go out before the transaxle.

How does it drive now?

It does not move at all, not even a grunt foreward. No noise or anything.

Can you get the transmission into and through the gears with the motor running, without gear grinding?

If everything seems normal, except you aren't moving when you let out the clutch, raise the front of the vehicle and block the rear tires. See if the tire that was undamaged rotates when you let out on the clutch. If so, you may have torn up the CV joint going to the blown tire/wheel.

Hope this helps,

Bob
