Hi can anyone tell me what the timing should be set at for 4.3 motor in a 1988 chevy truck .
I looked in my book but it did not tell me ' it said to look on the truck . And I can't find it there .

PS: And what is the idle RPM suppose to be set at.

Thanks

Looks like 700 on the idle, not adjustable if it's fuel injected. Timing 4 deg BTDC for manual trans, automatic - "see underhood info". Hmmm. Maybe someone knows; in the meantime you're probably safe using the 4 BTDC.

On carbureted engines you would need to disconnect the vacuum advance line to kill the advance on the timing. On injected models there should be a small connector visible near the distributor that must be disconnected to accomplish the same thing prior to setting timing.

Set timming on 4.3

I believe fuel injection started in 87 so your idle speed would be computer controlled. RW
