plow pump fluid level

ok - this is an easy one. However, I looked around and cannot find the answer.

The fill plug is on top leftof the pump for an older western plow. Do I fill this untill it runs out?

Thanks,

Lance

Lance, generally you will fill it with oil with all the pistons extended. That way you will always have a full reservoir of fluid. I am assuming there is no dipstick on the plug.

I am not an expert on plows but it would seem that if you filled the reservoir full with the pistons extended that when the pistons were retracted the displaced fluid would overfill the reservoir and you would have oil spilling out all over.
