I have a 1995 chevy cavaleir 150,000 miles, 2.2 liter engine with a 3 speed auto transmission. The transmision acts as if it is in neutral when placed in any gear and in reverse, fluid level is good and clean, cable is good and connected to the switch, car does not have the module shown in the haynes manual, is there a pin or a mechanical link that may have sheared that I could fix or change inside the trans, my mechanic ability is pretty good but knowlege of transmissions is limited, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Depends. When you move the shift lever is there some resistance or does it move back and forth freely like it's disconnected?
Sometimes the linkages will break or come loose; often it's a worn grommet. You can trace the tranny linkage under the hood. It will be on the driver's side generally under the area of the brake master cylinder. Have someone move the shifter back and forth and watch for the linkage moving to locate it.
At 150,000 miles it's entirely possible the tranny is simply a goner.
