shifting modulator

My 1983 Mercedes 240D was shifting real hard so I am replacing the modulator. Does anyone have any good step by step instructions for doing this? Thank you so much or any help...

Don't know about krautwagons, but on US cars, they're generally just held in by a bolt and a retaining clip at the base of the modulator. 5 minute job.

I would also replace the tubing, as sometimes with age and the amount of heat in that area, it can fail as well, and replacing the module won't show any change.
