2000 Cougar V6 Emergency Brake repair

Does anyone know if my cougar has 1 or 2 cables attached to the emergency brake. I currently have no em. brake it did brake off from the passanger side rear, but i am told i may have 2 cables.
Did the other brake off or is there sometype of a U shape going off to the other side?
How extensive is the repair?

Generally the parking brake cable originates as one cable at the handle/pedal and splits into two under the car. Depends on where the cable(s) falied as to how extensive, but it's not rocket science and shouldn't be expensive to fix.
