Possibly fuel pump going out? 93 Ford Ranger

Today my 93 Ranger (4.0) started jerking when I started moving from a stopped position. When I pushed more on the throttle, it stopped. Someone suggested that my fuel pump was going out and another said that I have a loose wire going to the fuel pump.

I'd start by replacing the fuel filter and then check the fuel pressure with a gauge.

Did it immediately restart when you turned the key?

I don't know for sure but it's probably on the frame rail, 1'-2' in front of the tank.
