I have a fiberglass tonneau cover that eats keys.

I guess the force required to turn, to open cover is greater then the strength of key, in any case I have gone through 5 keys in the course of a year.

My soloution and preferred method, would be to have an electric apparatus open the lid, operated by a swith in the truck cab.

Does anyone here have any suggestions as to where I would have to go, or what I would have to obtain to make this problem a thing of the past?

I was looking at electric dc motors on the bay but then thought of you guys, I do not of what product I could use to make this happen.

All it would have to do is pull the lever on tonneau one way, as I would have a spring to bring it back to locking position.

Anyway I hope you understand what I am trying to do, and can help me with knowledge of power motors and what not. especially what not

Some aftermarket parts places may still sell a electric trunk release. The kit is basically a pull in solenoid with cable to attach to the lock mechanism, a switch, and maybe some wire. With some modifications, this could do the job.
