stumbles on acceleration

stumbles on acceleration

88 chevy 3/4 ton 5.7 , friend bought truck it needed flywheel (never heard it run,sat for 5 months) we installed new flywheel started it up ran ok now it stumbles on acceleration we installed new cap/rotor/fuel filter, checked plugs ok replaced coil wire arching sprayed rest of wires with water ok no engine light on checked for vaccuum leaks none found

I would start by replacing the all the plug wires and put in fresh fuel if you haven't already. Five months sitting could have given you bad fuel.

Stumbling on acceleration with carb engines always indicated an accelerator pump prob back in the day.

Yours has TBI, right? Does throttle body fuel injection use an accelerator pump?

I love the reliability of most new cars, but GAWD I hate working on them.

When my '93 Silverado stumbled badly on accelleration, I first thought of fuel pump, fuel filter, etc. Changing the plugs and wires solved it before I looked any further. Running like a top ever since.
