The transmission wouldn't kick down after good about 15 to 20
mph. automatic 1986 ford 250 4x4.

On a three speed automatic (no overdrive) it wouldn't kick down until it reaches third gear. Then it should kick down into second. At 15 to 20 MPH you may not be in third yet.
If you have the problem at higher speeds when you've gotten into third or your overdrive, if you have one, check the kickdown linkage from your carburetor. It may need adjusted or it may be disconnected.

I had up this speed and wouldn't kick down. Did I forget to hook
something up. Is there vac line that i need to hook up. It's been many years from the last one I did. Thanks
