91 Cadillac DeVille ABS problem

While driving down the road I apply the brake pedal and suddenly the pedal becomes extremely hard and there is a noise coming from under the hood. This condition makes the car hard to stop. Can anyone help w/ diagnosis and solution?

Can you describe the noise? Any chance it sounds like a huge vacuum leak/sucking sound? Car run any different?

Sounds like a small motor running. The car does not drive any differently. It's just difficult to stop because the brake pedal is so hard. It feels like the pedal is pushing back.

Possible ABS Brake false activation. Pull a fuse on the ABS to deactivate it. If the problem goes away you need to diagnose the cause of ABS activation.
