1985 Subaru GL 10 Starting problem

This morning I went out to start my car, It started right up, but it was acting like it does when Im running out of gas (My fuel gauge (electronic display) doesn't work) I thought this funny odd because I hadnt put 100 miles on a full tank of gas. but I poured the contents of my 1.5 gal emergency reserve gas can in. and it started. ran about 15 seconds and died. I pulled the fuel line off the fuel filter turned the engine over and released the key, and a solid stream of fuel came out. so fuel not the trouble. rotor turns when engine cranks, but no spark. has been running fine up untill now.

You asked and answered your own question and the answer you came up with is electrical. Make sure you have a fully charged battery or a jump and try to start the car if no start look at the cables, the starter connections and the alternator connections, pay particular attention to the ground. You just need to troubleshoot the electrical system. Check fuses and fusable links. It will take work and time but if you do this in an orderly way the problem should be easily found. Good luck.

started then died aghasin

Not that simple. It started this morning, ran 30 seconds and died again, no spark again, read something somewhere concerning a control module or some diagnostic connections to check. I am new to subarus only reason I bought it was it was the only thing I could afford at the time. I took Basic auto repair in 1978, I can fix most cars made before then. i do not have the $$$ to just start throwing on new parts.
