opinion needed/ long story

years ago i got involved in racing as a mechanic i did everthing to the cars first class was a streetstock(lower class) i did it about 3 years bulid car from ground up , owner (driver, freind) was very lazy after ever friday night sat morning i would go down to the garage tear car apart tell him what it would need (or could use) to fix well he wouldnt call me till friday afternoon (race night ) to repair car i would leave work to fix car for the love of the sport, well i got tired of it (he did get better through the years when i worked with him as in points postion) i got tired and packed up and left next stop sprint cars(full size), they are great got lots of power understood them well did great with we were on the same page (driver) his dad got carried away as owner wanted us to change car the way he wanted of course we went from top five to last two his dad insisted "Do it that way it will be better" bull*@#* hello last to many fights iam going golfing done. Now same sprint driver (no dad) is able to get ride in a ride (sportsman/smaller mod) him and others in crew want me to come back full tilt to head it they never really understood it as i quit iam going golfing. Wife doesnt care but the headaches outway the postive (relaxing on the weekend going to whatever race i want putting my 2 cents in when needed). So its a toss up looking for opinions on this matter how do you decided what to do both are fun friends tell my what they think looking for outsiders input ( i do like to golf iam good at it, just like cars). input if you can!

As long as you understand opinions are like belly buttons, everyone has one. First, you found the comma key on your keyboard, now look for the period and Shift key. Sure would make reading your post a little easier. I would do it as an adviser only, not hands on. You've been there. That way, if you needed time, you could have it. But, if the hard times outweigh the good ones, pull the pin.

I also have a passion for racing but mostly as a spectator. My oldest son builds race chassis's for a local company.

You already know how demanding the sport is! Only you can make the decision to get in [partly or whole hog] or not get involved at all. If you decide to go back racin' it might be best to set yourself and them, some ground rules so you don't get back into a situation like before.
