Dies on Acceleration

I have a 2004 Grand Prix that runs great 99% of the time, but occasionally when I accelerate from a stop the engine will just die when shifts out of low. It's like everything completely shuts down. Sometimes it will start right back up and other times it has to sit for a few minutes before it will start again. What would be causing this???

This thing out of warranty already? They usually have a longer drivetrain warranty then bumper-bumper.

Could be many things, and intermittent problems can take a long time to figure out.

It could be fuel related, like a clogged filter, contaminated tank

or

locked up torque converter?
