Rear windshield defroster wire came off contactor
My rear windshield electrical contactor/wire to the windshield-defroster base came off.
Is there an inexpensive way to reattach the electrical connection back to the base?
I've not tried any type of adhesive yet; somewhere I found where someone just lightly sanded the base and terminal connector with 400 grit paper and simply used modeling-clay to refasten the wire by covering it all around -- the clay holding fast to the windshield but that didn't work for me.
Thanks,
Greynold

Does it have a connector like this:

If not, you could simply solder it back on or use some ghetto putty like you already said.

At one time you could buy a small bottle with a brush in it called, "Defroster Grid repair kit, . It looked just like paint, and you used it to repair broken grid lines. Actually worked pretty good. If you can find that at an auto parts place, you could probably use it to dab on rear window, with connector or wire.

two part kit at Napa
Same thing happend to my Ford. I went to Napa and bought a kit I think it is made by permatex. It is a two part kit kind of like a glue.
The important thing is that the adhesive passes current to the grid.
Napa guy had to order it but it works great. You do not get very much so no left overs and once it is mixed it is history.
