2002 jeep suv oil press elec problem

Have a 2002 jeep suv with 4.7 L engine. On cold mornings, oil pressure alarm comes on and gauge drops to zero. Direct connected gauge reads 35 psi when this happens.
Can anyone tell me if the wiring from the sensor is routed back through the computer and how to troubleshoot the fault?

Are you using recommended oil & Filter? Clean? Does alarm go off, as engine gets warmer?

2002 jeep oil press

Mike, the oil press has been verified by the installation of a direct press gage. I definitely have an electrical or electronic problem. If anyone out there has access to a wiring diagram, maybe they could tell me where the leads from the sensor travel to the instrument panel. Thanks for your reply.

Before I got too wrapped around the axle, I think I would gamble on just replacing the sensor. Might not be the problem and I don't generally recommend indiscriminate part-changing, but that should be a fairly inexpensive item and could relieve you from tracing down wiring and tearing into instrument panels.
