92 Buick Speedometer Reads too Fast

1992 Buick Lesabre with 3.8 liter
The speedometer reads consistently high
When going 85Km per hour the speedometer says 100 Km
The condition is consistent
I was told that it may be the Vehicle speed sensor.
I was also told that the Body Control Module may need calibrated
Any opinions??

I'll be waiting for an answer myself. My early 90's Dodge has been consistently off 4 mph at 30 mph (checked by police radar many times to confirm it is exactly 4 mph off) and ? off at 55 mph. Tire sizes are those listed in owners manual so THAT is not the problem. Speedometer does not go herky- jerky nor quiver, either. It is just 'off'.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not a 'tron guy, but I think that can be corrected by reprogramming one of the computers. probably one of those rare times when I visit to a dealer may be necessary.

You will need to take it to some one that has a computer to hook up to it while you drive it, does the vehicle speed sensor actually read the same as your speedometer? It could possible be the sensor , or like they said a computer problem, or even your instrument panel need to be remove and sent out to be recalibrated. But on a 92 you would probaly go to a junk yard, but there would be no gurantees. Or just always remember the difference to keep you at the actually speed limit. -(cheapest way)
