2000 Plymouth Neon making rubbing sounds
As I was driving today, I noticed my steering wheel starting to shake (never has done that before) and then gradually, I heard rubbing and thumping noises primarily on the left side under the hood.
I thought maybe something was rubbing against my left front tire, but didn't see anything.
The noise would increase as I would accelerate and stop completely when I came to a stop.
It started to smell like the radiator does when it overheats.
Any ideas as to what is wrong?

Possible CV joint or in that area, but either way, don't drive it too far, if at all, until you have it checked by a certified repair shop, as it could be something very critical in your steering or wheel that could possibly cause a failure & an accident. An inspection & diagnosis by a certified technician, doesn't cost too much, then decide from there what to do, or let him fix it, but at least have it checked.
