shakes when brakeing

shakes when brakeing

91 olds cutlass ciera

when i apply the breaks while driving the car shakes pretty badly once i release the brakes its fine. would i be correct in thinking its the brake routers or is there something else.

You would be correct. Have your rotors checked or just replace if the price is reasonable. Suspension (tie rods, ball joints, etc) can also play a role, but the most likely cause are the rotors.

Yep. had the same problem here. Warped rotors.

more info

Buy good quality parts made in America or Canada and use a torque wrench to tighten wheel nuts.

And after you get the rotors changed, avoid running through standing water after a hard braking. It will tend to warp even new rotors.

if you do run through standing water, apply SLIGHT brake pressure while going through and a couple of car lengths afterwards to keep the rotors from cooling too quick.
