Well my husband and I decided to replace the slave on the clutch in the old 1992 Ford RAnger with a Stick, and V6 engine. After researching we found it was going to take many hours to reach this part. The part cost $60.00, but the labor hours added up to a $600 to $900 cost at the service center.
I took out part of the exhaust underneath, pulled out the drive shaft yesterday. We think the transmission will slide back over the support bracket and come out without removing it. We have a transmission jack that we will put under it and then start removing bolts. We don't have any instructions - so if anyone has ideas, hints, or questions please help us out.
The truck is not worth $900 to have it fixed at the shop. I think we should replace everything clutch pads, etc while we have it out regardless - any thoughts on that?
Any way to do this easier then what we are doing?
First time I have been underneath the truck, and I was so greasy - what fun - I loved it.
Thanks everyone - Susan
