What size...?
What size 6 point socket or box wrench do I need to take off the oil drain plug on a 1991 Dodge Caravan? Adjustable wrench won't do the job, and Hanes says to use a 6 point socket or box wrench, but doesn't mention the size needed.
Thanks.
Thanks.

that's a mitsubishi engine and therefore metric. the most popular size bolts and such in most all asain vehicles is 10, 12, 14, 17 and 19 mm. It's been a few years since i worked at the Mits dealer...but my guess is either 14 or 17mm. if it's the stock drain plug...of course.
for the record, there are a few cstomary sizes that interchange with metric...a 3/4 fits a 19 very nicely, and vice versa. as for the other sizes that I mentioned...nothing else will fit...and for pete's sake, don't use a crescent wrench on anything...cept maybe the drain under the bathroom sink.

Yeah I was suprised myself, 24mm socket is a pretty big sucker. Even more suprised because the other plugs I saw in stores for the caravan were so much smaller in comparison. Funny thing is, the '94 caravan we have has the same size plug (24mm) too.
