Fround end 97 Chys Intrepid

I just bought a car from a woman, who late one night drove through a stop sign and over a dirt mound, and bottomed out in mud. When going down the road the steering sticks a little and the passenger side wheel, shakes some, there is no play in the wheels. Any suggestions? Thanks becky

1. you might have irrelevant issue with rack and pinion, meaning - chrysler rack and pinion does stick at above some mileage or on some models. but if it "sticks", meaning - it is taking extra effort to turn steering wheel in either direction or at certain point - it is rack and pinion. or, as a result of a direct damage to suspension components, there's bind in one of them. ball joint, strut assembly, tierod end, steering knuckle/hub assembly.
2. what do you mean by "there is no play in the wheels"? did you have front end raised up - securily - and wheels jogged back and forth and up and down? this should be your 1st test to do. power steering itself always has some loseness in it due to hydraulic fluid compression. i'd start with that test and then report results. you must have both wheels up in the air - securily - and if there's play whilst wheel is jogged back and forth horizontally, it's your tierod end/tierod; if jogged vertically - hub assembly. to check ball joint you need to insert prybar between lower control arm and hub, and try to jog it up/down with prybar. you should have mcpherson strut on the front end, so i do not think you have upper ball joint.
i'd say, les schwab's free test should give you idea, they do not charge for that.
