89 accord lxi hood release cable broken

89 accord lxi hood release cable broken
The hood release cable is completely broken. Looking in between the grill u can see it. Anyone know how I can get the hood open? Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

if the end of the cable is still attached to the latch mechanism, sometimes you can just pull on the cable with a pair of needle nose pliers and get it to pop the latch. if you can't do that, can you see where the ball end of the cable goes thru the eye of the release "bail" on the latch? you may be able to flick the bail with a long skinny screw driver. sometimes removing the grill helps when doing this. i have laid on the ground, reached up from underneath and released the latch with a finger or thumb. it may also help to be able to visualize what it is you are after...do you perhaps have a friend with an 89 that you can look at to see exactly what moves what during the release?

I don't know of anyone that has the same model as I do that is this old. The ball end of that cable is not connected to anything. The whole cable itself isn't connected to anything. On this particular model can I do as u stated you've done before and get on the ground and go from underneath the car and push the lever in there to get it to release?
