honda odometer

2003 Honda 4 cyl/auto So the wife comes home, says she filled up the car the other day and the trip odometer was ?????. Took it to Honda. The odometer does not work. When you turn off the ignition switch and turn it back on, it adds 160 mi to the trip odometer, A and B. Otherwise, no other problems. Honda is baffled, have to call Japan for a solution. My guess is lots of $$$$$$.

Yeah, probably $$$$$$$. Gotta love electronic stuff on cars.

Just a wild idea out of left field, but has anybody thought to disconnect and reconnect the battery. Probably a long shot, but it would certainly be a cheap fix.

I usually think of that myself, but did not, will give it a shot.

I was helping a buddy install a DVDVCR player this afternoon, VCR responded just fine, DVD dead, troubleshooting instructions say turn it off...on. it worked.

Before disconnecting the battery be sure you know the code to get the radio working again, or you'll have to call the dealer to get it from Honda.
