What make/model/year vehicle?
This is very common for the window to come off the track and doesn't mean someone tried breaking into your vehicle.
Window coming out sideways?

Year Make and Model????
Agreed....Very common with G.M. and some ford products with "Framed" windows.....
Does it Come up at an angle when you try to close it?
Back in the late 80s and early 90's...We walked to the dealership parts counter and asked for a "WINDOW ROACH". The parts guy knew exactly what to give us.

its a 1997 acura integra gs..well it rolls up fine til it get near the top then it comes outward..well the reason why i thought someone might have tried to break in it is because it looks scratchy near that hole..and i called the dealer...he told me i had to replace my whole window..i just wanted to see if theres any other options....

you can probably get the part at your local acura dealership or you might call around local salvage yards to see if they have one you should probably atleast go see the dealer instead of just calling them so you can show them whats missing and atleast get a better idea of what part you need to fix it.

I, personally, would take the door panel off and have a look at the mechanism that lifts the window. To me, it doesn't sound like this "clip" is doing much to guide the window anyway although I don't know what this "clip" looks like.
I had a 2000 Civic Si that had a very similar problem to yours. It would go up a good part of the way and then start to travel outward. I could pull it up with my hands somewhat but couldn't get it straight in the tracks.
I had to pull the door panel off (not hard to do) and then found that the window was simply off its track. It just took a little messing with to get it back on track. What you can do is pull the passenger side door panel off and look at the window mechanism that is in good working order for comparison.
P.S. THE DEALER JUST WANTS YOUR MONEY!

missing part
this doesn't have a door frame does it? if it does than yes you need a new window... sometimes you can reattach the tab that falls off however it usually does not last long..however if this does not have a window frame than the part you are missing is in the bottom of the door and just needs to be bolted back on
