Brakes
I have a 1989 GMC Jimmy 2 wheel drive, there was
a loud scraping noise coming from the passenger
side rear tire, when I took the tire off the spring
on the brakes was broken and floating around.
My question is can I drive my car to the brake
shop without the spring being attached to the
brakes? the brake light on the instrument panel
is lite up when i start my car. thanks for any
help on this matter, its one of those girl things
not much knowledge on car repair, just know
how to drive one....

I can't condone driving around with malfunctioning brakes. However, completely off the record, if the brake shop is close to you, you can probably get away with it. The front brakes handle the bulk of the braking in cars anyway. Just take it slow and easy and if you feel uncomfortable at any time, call a tow truck.
