90 yota transmission adjustment

Four cylinder, five speed manual, 4 wheel drive
when in first or third gear it will jump out of gear unless you push it in and hold it until you release the clutch. I think that it only needs the linkage ajusted. The linkage is not visible on the side of the trans. so how do you adjust the linkage?

if there is no visible linkage it usually is not adjustable. you might be able to replace some bushings in the shifter. some times worn syncros will cause that problem, not really a DIY fix.

life begins when the kids leave home and the dog dies

no expert

I am no expert but I recall I read someplace that yota has bushings that wear out that would be a good place to start use GOOGLE and find out about the bushings.
