Question 97 Camry won't start

Drove my Camry home yesterday 200 miles in hot northeast weather. Tried to start it last night and it was dead. There is no sound at all (turning over) when I turn the key. The radio display lights up, but it doesn't make a sound. The odometer also lights up, but if I switch on the lights, the odometer goes off. I figure it's the battery. Am I right? It's been about 6-7 years since it's been replaced. It's been a great car with very few fixes so far. Thanks.

Most likely; the #2 suspect would be a distance second. Could be connections so check everthing first, but a 6-7 year old battery is probably on borrowed time anyway.

Thanks, it was the battery, or so the mechanic who jumped it said. I was thinking the same thing, about the borrowed time.
