Catalytic Conver 97 suburban

Okay, I now know that I have a bad catalytic converter on my suburban. I need to know where it's located and how many does a 97 suburban 454 vortex, 7.4ltr engine, have. How do you find out which ones are bad? Also, are they all the same size? Help!!!

Depends on what model and engine you have. Try autozone.com ...you can input your vehicle and get(normally) a picture and price, that should enable you to see what your converter looks like and where.

It should be located in front of the muffler. Just follow your exhaust system. It's between the muffler and the engine.

If your converter over heated and failed you need to find the cause of the probable rich fuel mixture or the new one will fail too. Do you have any codes that would indicate an engine management problem other than a converter code?
