Axle Nut Size
Hi:
New to this site-looks like alot of good info.I have a 2001 GMC Yukon Denali& need to change out the front CV joints. Anyone know the size of the axle nut. I only have Checker Auto as my only source for tools right now and I don't know if they would have that info. I'll be using NAPA for the joints. They have an excellent machine shop.

I believe it's a 30mm. Often times if I only need the tool for a small job, Autozone, Advanced Auto, etc let me "borrow" the tool, then return it when I'm done.

The axle nut is going to be somewhere between a 30mm and a 36mm. Usually the larger vehicles are larger sizes, but not always. There are so many in that range its hard to remember the size of them all. Why do you need a machine shop for replacing axle cv joints? Are you going to have them replace the joints on your axles? It might be cheaper for you to just replace the entire axle when you consider the price of the joints and the labor and you already have the axles out yourself. Plus I dont know about your area, but most stores like that will only replace the parts if you buy from them.
Hope this helps ya,
