Check engine code 401 EGR problem
I have check engine light on since 1 week
I took it to autozone to check the code, it s 401 EGR ............
Please let me know how to fix this problem
I still drive the car without problems so far

1. please, post you car specs for specific response.
2. library/chilton will help you locate EGR valve on your vehicle; remove it, i usually simply clean them with carb/choke cleaner; others use coathanger wire to scrape buildup off; thin metal brush will work either. be very careful with the gasket, some of them are made out of thin aluminum and break easy.
with valve off, apply vacuum to it after cleaning, to see if it works. when done, either reset code with scanner (autozone) or disconnect negative cable for few hrs to reset ECM.
clogged EGR may result in engine stalls.
friendly suggestion: use only gas that has cleaning agents added. cheap gas has none of this, with resulting gunk buildup all over and expensive repairs later.

Depending on the vehicle there may be no vacuum lines. Only an electrical connector. We really need to know the Year/Make/Model of the vehicle before we can offer anything other than general information.
